This special 40th cake was made for Craig who is a wedding photographer. The cake was for 60 guests so was pretty huge. Craig and his family were really pleased with it and I was delighted with how it turned out.

My friend Sara saw a very similar cake to this online made by Alix’s cakes and asked if I could make a version of it for her dads 60th birthday, he is a huge fan of Star Trek. I made an edible Spock and Captain Kirk to sit on top of the cakes which are chocolate sponge filled with chocolate buttercream.
